Code d'usages légumes appertisés (ref: Novembre 2004)

Ce code d’usages a été élaboré par l’OEITFL en vue de fournir un cadre de référence volontaire, nécessaire pour assurer une concurrence loyale sur le marché communautaire. Il a pour but de consacrer les usages loyaux et constants de la production et du commerce des légumes en conserve. Il permet de la sorte une application correcte de la Directive 2000/13/CE relative à l’étiquetage des denrées alimentaires ainsi que la publicité faite à leur égard. Il harmonise non seulement les critères de remplissage des boîtes et bocaux, mais également les méthodes d’analyse et d’échantillonnage nécessaires au contrôle du poids égoutté

The Code of Practice for preserved vegetables has been drawn up by the OEITFL in order to provide a necessary voluntary reference framework to ensure fair competition on the Community market. It sets out fair and traditional practices for the production and marketing of preserved vegetables. In this way, it allows proper implementation of Directive 2000/13/EC relating to the labelling, presentation and advertising of foodstuffs. It harmonizes not only the criteria for filling cans and glass jars but also the necessary methods of analysis and sampling to verify the drained weight

The fears expressed by processors at the end of May are being confirmed and their conclusions at the time could not have been more accurate: with initial stocks just sufficient to link up with the 2005 harvest and a difficult processing campaign, the frozen vegetables market will no doubt be faced with deficits in several vegetables.
